Bristol Rapier fight

R&D Audition Fight

One of our students needed a fight to land a spot in the Fight Cast at Bristol Renaissance Faire. It worked.

 

Note: the fight is actually reproduced twice on this page. The first version is written in Gregory Fight Notation, the second in text form. See why we tend to go for Gregory Notation?

In a defensive stance, left foot leading. Her left hand is up near her face to ward off thrusts.In a traditional right-foot leading stance

On a cross forward, thrust to right leg and then right arm (blade then pauses a moment in the right arm parryOn a cross back, parry 2 then parry 6
Avoids her face to the left, and pushes aside the incoming thrust with her left handThrust to the face (swing and a miss)
Draws a cut against Richard's right side (a wound), and reacts to her left hand being cutDraws a cut against Dawn's hand (resting against his blade), and reacts to his right side being cut
Diagonal slash up right to down left (swing and a miss)Avoid left
React stagger backStep up and shove Dawn, with left arm against her chest
Parry prime and move through into head slash left to right (swing and a miss) and demi-volte to face right.Forehand cut at the stomach while charging forward. Big duck to avoid head slash takes him to hands and knees.
