Close-Order Melee
Shakespeare's Motley Crew
This little heavy-weapon melee was first born in a production of Henry VI (Parts 1, 2, & 3) for SMC. It was later reprised for part of the opening brawl in Macbeth for First Folio Shakespeare Company. We've also used it for teaching at the FightShop, and it remains a great example of a shoulder-to-shoulder bashfest. This is a true melee with one entire side fighting the other, rather than a bunch of parallel one-on-one fights happening simultaneously.
